DESTINATION WEDDING TIMELINE & CHECKLIST

Destination weddings are weddings that take place away from where the bride and groom live. They happen in some of the most exotic and beautiful places in the world. Destination weddings mean traveling far away from home so the wedding couple and their guests will need additional time for all planning components.

Following is a Destination wedding timeline and check list which can be modified to suite your individual Destination wedding vision.

12 - 18 Months

  • Select your Destination wedding specialist
  • Decide on your budget
  • Select your destination and resort
  • Select & confirm your wedding date
  • Obtain the legal requirements for the destination you have chosen
  • Obtain group prices
  • Secure your group booking and have Save the Dates or invitations sent to your guest. 
  • Select a wedding package
  • Choose your wedding venues for your ceremony, cocktail party and wedding reception

6 - 12 Months

  • Select your wedding gown
  • Choose and order bridesmaids wedding dresses
  • Order groom and groomsmen attire
  • Decide on if you will be having a private or semi-private wedding dinner/reception venue.
  • Obtain menu's for your wedding dinner/reception
  • Follow-up with guests who have not booked yet
  • Choose your flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces)

4 - 6 Months

  • Book and confirm your photographer 
  • Book your musicians (soloists, bands, DJ etc)
  • Select your wedding cake and be sure to include flavor, colours and style
  • Finalize menu and bar selection for all events - cocktail hour, dinner reception

2 -4 Months

  • Finalize wedding attire
  • Finalize flower selections
  • Put together Welcome bags for your guests (optional) Welcome bags should include and itinerary for your wedding day.
  • Start putting a list of your favorite music together, if you are having a DJ
  • Look into excursions for your group (optional)

1 - 2 Months

  • Final fittings for bridal attire
  • Confirm all final wedding details with your Destination wedding specialist
  • Create seating charts if you are having a private wedding dinner reception
  • Make sure all documents are in order and ready to go: Passports, travel documents and birth certificates

Upon arrival

  • Meet with your wedding coordinator and go over all the wedding details to ensure all is accurate
  • Walk around the complex and research best photo locations
  • Have a trial run for your hair and make-up if time permits (optional)

Day of your Wedding

  • Be sure to eat abit and keep hydrated
  • Have your hair and make-up done
  • Get dressed
  • Relax, say "1 do" and live happily ever hafter
  • Enjoy your special day. You deserve every bit of happiness that comes with it.
